Notes from Napa: Signorello Vineyards
We enjoyed all the wines on both tasting lists during our December visit to Signorello Vineyards, but the 2005 Padrone was by far the favorite of the weekend. Recently rated 97 points by Wine Enthusiast, it’s a gutsy, lush, primarily Cab Bordeaux blend. We tasted tantalizing hints of spice at the front, and then, notes of red current, boysenberry, black cherry. Ultra smooth with a long, luxurious finish. I dreamed of drinking it with my favorite onion braised beef roast — it will surely stand up to a bold and rich pairing.
We also loved the silky 2006 ‘Las Amigas’ Pinot Noir with its smoky plumy nose and strawberry jam finish, as well as the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon with its notes of vanilla, chocolate and pie cherries.
Thanks to the folks at Signorello for a fabulous visit! Signorello wines can be found on WinemakersDirect.us.
